Discussion @ Haida’s on Charity and Something Else
Posted on 22. Oct, 2007 by ninie@linie in Development
Went to Haida’s open house last Saturday. Kagum with all the food she cooked (or more like tolong mak masak? :P). Sedap. Unfortunately, I didn’t take any photos. Idaman looks ayu with kebaya she found dalam gobok nenek dia. Haida kurus, cute and slim – no change since I last saw her in college. Aliza, well is just Aliza, sehat (that includes me as well)!
Spoke to them and a few people on this project. Aliza suggested that we do fund raising for Rumah Solehah, a charity home for HIV and abandoned children. I think it’s a good idea nonetheless, the only question is whether we want to visit these children and spend some time with them. As much as we try to be caring citizens, I’m unsure about being close to these kids. I know, AIDS is only contracted through limited means, but some caretakers of HIV kids do die for accidentally transfering of fluids. I guess if some of us really want to go visiting, I would have to gather some courage and be yakin & tawakkal about this. I do agree, fund raising a good idea and probably the easiest to execute – minimal effort yet satisfying jugak.
Nana gave some pointers on charity, thank you. When I mention charity, I mean to include volunteering for charitable organisation and fund raising as well. Doing both volunteering and fund raising can be quite demanding.
Kak E and Hazah said they are OK to join forces, whilst Baini and Nana not sure lah because they will be busy ’til Dec07. Dec07 should be a good time to touch base with them again since this project will only take off next year.
Haven’t got responses from the rest yet. Still welcome more suggestions.
Anyway, spoke to Tg Noraini on the career talk, whether any of us have a slot to do the talk sometime next year. She was keen in that idea. FYI, Fazu and I did career talk in 2005, and it was well received by the students, especially Fazu’s slot since she connected well with them. As for myself, I’d need to brush up and find creative ways to promote accounting to these students – considering kelas T je ambik, memang susahla nak relate to. One thing I learnt from that talk is that these students are more interested in the life of post SPM and courses they should take rather than the corporate world itself. It’s more like FAQs on getting scholarships, types of courses, types of profession available out there etc. Slowly, I think we can inject the awareness on types of profession which they might want to consider when choosing a course.
Idaman and Aliza seems to be interested, again, the timeline should be around latest, March’08. After that, they’d be too busy preparing for exams. Anybody interested please let me know. It’d be fun. Can also selitkan other things as well so please suggestalah anything.
Adios amigos, will update more later.
